Asia Community Development Organization (ACDO) is an Afghan non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit humanitarian organization established in 2014 and registered with the Government of Afghanistan under the supervision of Ministry of Economy (MoEc) with a mission to provide humanitarian and development assistance to the vulnerable, at-risk, and underserved people throughout the country.

ACDO responds to the needs of deprived and marginalized rural and urban communities by managing and utilizing the available scarce resources in a well-organized, efficient, effective, transparent, and dignified manner to enhance resilience, boost access to education, health services, and infrastructure, ensure food and livelihood security, and promote social protection and inclusion.

ACDO has an active presence in most parts of the country and intends to expand its operations to the remaining provinces, as to transform itself into a leading and developed organization that will deliver to and support large number of people who have been affected by the long-protracted and sudden on-set emergencies and regardless of the hardest circumstances that exist in Afghanistan, ACDO has managed to deliver humanitarian and development assistance in most part of country.

Job Description:

A trainer in the education sector of the Asia Community Development Organization will work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager/Provincial Coordinator and in collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Directorate of Education, the Educational Supervision Team, the School Management Team, the Community Council, students’ parents, and staff from the Aga Khan Foundation.

The trainer’s goal is to train and supervise teachers and remedial classes based on student-centered teaching standards. They will support remedial class teachers by providing the necessary training and facilitating improvements in teaching methods.

Additionally, the trainer will meet with the community council and students’ parents, fostering effective and constructive relationships with the provincial team, project manager, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of educational programs.

Job Description:

  1. Design and Expand the Educational Programs:
  • Developing and implementing educational strategies for remedial classes.
  • Training teachers of remedial classes based on student-centered teaching standards.
  • Monitoring teachers’ performance and providing constructive feedback to improve teaching quality.
  • Developing curriculum and educational materials based on students’ needs and educational standards.
  • Designing and organizing workshops and training programs for teachers of remedial classes.\
  1. Leadership and Supervision of Educational Activities:
  • Supervise teachers’ activities and provide necessary guidance to improve teaching quality.
  • Evaluate and analyze the impact of remedial classes and propose corrective measures.
  • Conduct regular classroom visits to assess challenges and educational needs.
  • Organize training sessions and capacity-building workshops for teachers.
  • Train teachers on effective teaching methods, classroom management, and modern educational techniques.
  • Deliver effective and targeted training sessions for remedial class teachers.
  • Work closely with teachers to address educational challenges and provide practical solutions.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to teachers to enhance their educational performance.
  1. Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Collect and analyze educational data to assess students’ progress.
  • Prepare regular reports on the progress and challenges of remedial classes for the project manager and provincial team
  • Participate in coordination meetings and provide recommendations to improve educational processes.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on the teaching process, challenges, and achievements to the relevant authorities.
  • Propose strategies for improving and developing educational programs based on evaluation results.
  1. Coordination and Collaboration:
  • Establish coordination among teachers, council members, parents, and relevant institutions to improve the quality of education.
  • Participate in meetings with educational authorities, partner organizations, and local communities to optimize remedial programs.
  • Ensure the implementation of child protection principles and non-violent teaching methods in remedial classes.
  1. Community-Based Responsibilities:
  • Organizing awareness sessions for parents and community elders on the importance of education and the role of remedial classes.
  • Encouraging families to support their children in continuing their education and attending classes regularly.
  • Collaborating with local elders, community councils, and social organizations to raise awareness about educational challenges.
  • Raising awareness about children’s rights and the importance of creating a safe learning environment.
  1. Support the Students and their Parents:
  • Creating a communication bridge between teachers, students, and parents to address educational and behavioral issues.
  • Identifying students facing educational, family, or social problems and referring them to relevant institutions.
  • Encouraging families to actively participate in educational programs and support their children’s education.
  1. Responsibilities related to the Hub School:
  • Supporting students and improving the learning environment.
  • Monitoring students’ status, identifying their needs, and creating supportive programs.
  • Creating a positive learning environment and encouraging students to actively participate in the class.
  • Collaborating with teachers and parents to address students’ learning issues.
  1. Coordination with Educational and other Relevant Departments:
  • Collaborating with hub school principals, education representatives, and educational organizations to improve teaching processes.
  • Providing regular reports to education authorities (PED/DED) on educational progress and challenges.
  • Participating in coordination meetings with local departments and social/civil organizations to develop educational programs.
  • Implementing child protection principles and non-violent education practices.
  • Monitoring the adherence to child protection principles in hub schools.
  • Training teachers on creating a safe and violence-free environment for students.
  • Reporting any potential violence, discrimination, or other violations in the educational environment.
  • Requesting cooperation from the school management team and SMS in case of any issues related to classroom activities.
  1. Responsibilities Related to the Asia Community Development Organization:
  • Provide monthly reports on class activities (challenges and achievements) to the provincial coordinator/project manager.
  • Participate in all professional and educational workshops organized by the Asia Community Development Organization staff/ senior team.
  • Participate in all teaching-related programs organized by the Asia Community Development Organization, paying attention to feedback and suggestions and following up on them.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner that reflects the Asia Community Development Organization’s commitment to child protection in accordance with child protection policies.
  • Adhere to the Asia Community Development Organization’s general protection policy, review the organization’s code of conduct, and sign the commitment statement.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications& Requirement

  • University graduate, Priority will be given to relevant degree holder.
  • Bachelor degree holder with 4 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the relevant or similar position in humanitarian projects is required.
  • The applicant must reside in the same district as the one they are applying for.

Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in Pashto and Dari, English skills will be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the community structure, dynamics and development.
  • At least 3 years of experience in community mobilization, particularly for community participation, conflict resolution and resource mobilization.
  • Knowledge of the value of education in Holy Islam, child development and the current trends of education in Afghanistan.
  • Ability to cope well under pressure, work irregular hours and meet tight deadlines.
  • Sound organizational skills and ability to prioritize and deliver assignments in a timely manner often under severe time pressures.
  • Experience in needs assessment, project monitoring & evaluation, and program development
  • Good knowledge and experience in Afghanistan education system/context, CBE, Education in Emergencies (EiE), and child protection (CP)
  • Experience of coordination with government authorities, communities, donors and beneficiaries.

Language skills:

  • Fluent oral and written skills in Pashto and Dari, fluent in English is plus point
