Overview
Jhpiego is an international, non-profit health organization affiliated to the Johns Hopkins University. Jhpiego works with health experts, governments and community leaders to provide high-quality healthcare for their people. Jhpiego through the Accelerating Measurable Progress and Leveraging Investments for Postpartum Haemorrhage Impact (AMPLI-PPHI) project in collaboration with the Division of Reproductive and Maternal Health and Makueni County (Department of Health) plans to carry out a study titled, “Implementation of WHO recommendations for drugs and approaches to prevent and treat postpartum haemorrhage: a multi-country feasibility, acceptability and cost-effectiveness study”. The AMPLI-PPHI study is being conducted in Makueni County in Kenya with some study participants drawn from the national level.
STUDY SUMMARY:
The purpose of this study is to assess feasibility and acceptability of expanding the package of drugs and approaches available to prevent and treat postpartum haemorrhage in 36 select health facilities in Makueni county. The study participants will involve postpartum women, community representatives, healthcare providers and key MNH stakeholders. An inclusion and exclusion criteria will be used to determine the eligibility of the study participants. The findings from this study will be used inform government decisions on where and how to introduce an expanded package of WHO-recommended drugs and approaches for PPH prevention and treatment. Study participants and people living in study locations may benefit from improved health services if study findings stimulate policy change and resource allocation. Research findings are also intended to inform WHO guidance on operationalizing PPH-related recommendations.
Jhpiego seeks an experienced qualitative research transcription firm to conduct timely, high-quality transcription of audio recordings of interviews and focus group discussions conducted for a research study assessing feasibility and acceptability of expanding the package of drugs and approaches available to prevent and treat postpartum haemorrhage in Makueni County.
Responsibilities
Produce English transcripts with verbatim documentation of interviews and focus group discussions conducted in English, Swahili or Kamba langagues
Verify quality and accuracy of transcriptions
Ensure adherence to approved study protocols for transfer, management and confidentiality of research data
Return all Audio recordings and transcripts to Jhpiego at the end of the assignment
Required Qualifications
The team members providing transcription and translation services should hold:
At least a Bachelor’s degree in public health, social sciences, community health or development or related field
ICT skills will be an added advantage
Prior experience in transcription and translation
Minimum of three years of expertise in providing verbatim transcriptions of recordings from Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), In-depth Interviews (IDIs) and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs).
An understanding of Maternal Health is an added advantage
