About UN Careers-Client Benefits Assistant/USA/2023

The Client Benefits Assistant helps clients obtain state public and government benefits and complete related tasks in order to ensure that the resettlement and post-resettlement experiences are as positive as possible. With a strengths-based approach, they offer services with a focus on empowering clients to thrive in their communities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide a wide range of direct client services within a trauma-informed framework that upholds and supports clients’ dignity and autonomy. In order to connect clients with IRC and partner resources, a clear and prompt communication strategy must be used.
  • Collaborate with other teams (Resettlement, Extended Case Management, Adult Education, Employment) to coordinate services, advocate on behalf of clients, and disseminate client information.
  • Prepare client applications for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Department of Family and Child Services (DFCS), Social Security Insurance and disability (SSI/SSDI), and other relevant benefits, and provide support for follow-up activities.
  • help families find childcare and parental services (CAPS).
  • Create and maintain relationships with neighborhood organizations to provide client referrals as necessary.

UN Careers-Client Benefits Assistant/USA/2023 Requirments

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field of study preferred.

Experience:

  • Preferable: Relevant professional experience in the human services sector, with a focus on providing excellent customer service, adhering to program criteria, and maintaining accurate and timely records.
  • Strong preference for previous experience dealing with immigrant and/or refugee communities.

Languages:

  • proficient in the language(s) used by the client group; fluency in both spoken and written English is preferred.
