About UN Careers-Programme Management Specialist
Providing operational assistance for the UN, the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) helps its partners carry out their peacekeeping, humanitarian, and development projects successfully all over the globe. With a mandate to serve as the UN’s main resource, UNOPS offers a variety of governments, donors, and UN agencies sustainable project management, procurement, and infrastructure services.
UNOPS provides its partners with the logistical, technical, and management skills they require, wherever they are, with more than 6,000 employees dispersed over 80 countries. At any one moment, UNOPS is working on about 1,000 projects for our partners, which significantly influences the outcomes there, frequently in the most difficult conditions.
Required Qualifications of UN Careers-Programme Management Specialist
Education:
- A graduate degree in environmental management/sciences, international relations, economics, education, development studies, or a related discipline that is important for strengthening capacity and transparency in climate action is required.
- The master’s degree may be substituted for a first-level university degree (a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent) and two further years of relevant work experience.
Experience:
- five (5) years’ worth of experience working in the relevant field. Relevant experience is defined as progressive experience in the creation or administration of programs or projects connected to climate change and/or environmental management and assessment, in both the public and commercial sectors;
- It is desirable to have experience working with developing nations, in international collaboration, and/or in capacity building;
- A benefit is having knowledge of managing various stakeholders, preferably in a global context;
- A strong grasp of openness in the context of Article 13 of the Paris Agreement and experience supporting work linked to Nationally Determined Contributions, climate policies, and/or policy impact assessments would be a unique benefit.
Languages:
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required
- Fluency in written and spoken Spanish is required
- Working knowledge of another UN language (Arabic/Chinese/French//Russian) is an asset.
