About UN Careers-Social Policy Specialist/Iraq/2023

The incumbent is accountable for providing technical support to the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of all stages of social policy programing and related advocacy, from strategic planning and formulation to delivery of tangible and long-lasting results for the social policy section, under the general supervision of the supervisor.

This includes ensuring links and support to teams working on education, health, child protection, water and sanitation, adolescent development, and HIV as well as direct program work with government and civil society partners. The chosen candidate will aid the group in creating easy interactions with government representatives. By taking minutes, offering interpretation, and translating pertinent documents, he or she will guarantee efficient communication while representing UNICEF at meetings of pertinent coordination groups.

Required Qualifications of UN Careers-Social Policy Specialist/Iraq/2023

Education:

Economics, public policy, social sciences, international relations, political science, or another pertinent technical discipline with a master’s degree are necessary.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience is required.
  • Work experience in the Iraq Social Policy sector and familiarity with both humanitarian and development context is considered an advantage.
  • Proven understanding and experience of poverty and gender equality.
  • Experience in strategic planning and donor proposal writing is an asset.
  • Experience in joint planning/programming and collaborating with other UN agencies and sector partners is recommended.

Languages:

You must have a strong grasp of both written and spoken English. Arabic proficiency is highly advised. Experience with translation is advantageous.
