About UN Internships-ECONOMIC AFFAIRS/Kuwait/2023
The typical length of a full-time RCO internship is two months, but this can occasionally increases to a maximum of six months. Moreover, Under the direction of the Economist, he or she will work five days a week for 35 hours in the office of the resident coordinator (RCO). Besides, The supervisor’s recommendation governs the awarding of the internship certificate.
The United Nations doesn’t pay its interns any money. The cost and arrangements for travel, visas, housing, and living expenses are the interns’ or their sponsoring organizations’ responsibility. The expenditures associated with any accident, illness, or death that may occur during an internship not acceptes as being the responsibility of the United Nations. Neither is the intern’s medical insurance. Candidates will thus require to sign a declaration acknowledging their understanding and acceptance of the conditions of service after being offered an internship.
For the duration of the internship at the duty station, applicants must present proof of current medical insurance coverage, along with a medical certificate attesting to their overall health. The United Nations disclaims any liability for any loss or damage to interns’ personal belongings that may occur.
Responsibilities:
contributes to the UNCT’s understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing sustainable development, focusing especially on the critical development areas of socioeconomic resilience, protection of the weak, education and lifelong learning, health and wellbeing, and climate action;
Provides inputs on socioeconomic trends to inform system-wide planning efforts that the UN Cooperation Framework is designed to respond to the potential impact and new risks originating from the regional and global development dynamics;
Supports identification, analysis, and prioritization of joint programs of UN entities in line with the UN Cooperation Framework and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the context of the post-COVID-19 crisis;
Supports drafting of substantive inputs to policy briefs, presentations, and project documents as well as assists in the organization of meetings with its meeting minutes drafted;
Performs other duties assigned.
Required Qualifications Of UN Internships-ECONOMIC AFFAIRS/Kuwait/2023
Education:
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
1. Applicants must:
(a) be enrolle in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) be enrolle in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
(c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above)
2. Applicants must:
(a) be computer literate in standard software applications.
(b) have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter; and
(c) have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Experience:
No working experience requires to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advanced course work, or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this position fluency in English requires; fluency in Arabic is desirable.
Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand), and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
