About UN Internships-Partnership and Development Finance

An ESCWA internship lasts for two months on a full-time basis in the regular case; it may be exceptionally extended for up to six months. Under the direction of the Partnership Officer, he/she works five days a week for 35 hours at the RC Kuwait office. The supervisor’s recommendation governs the awarding of the internship certificate.

The United Nations does not pay its interns any money. The cost and arrangements for travel, visas, housing, and living expenses are the interns’ or their sponsoring organizations’ responsibility. The expenditures associated with any accident, illness, or death that may occur during an internship are not accepted as being the responsibility of the United Nations. Neither is the intern’s medical insurance.

Candidates will thus require to sign a declaration acknowledging their understanding and acceptance of the conditions of service after offering an internship. For the duration of the internship at the duty station, applicants must present proof of current medical insurance coverage, along with a medical certificate attesting to their overall health. The United Nations disclaims any liability for any loss or damage to interns’ personal belongings that may occur.

Required Qualifications Of UN Internships-Partnership and Development Finance

Education:

Applicants must:
(a) be enrolle in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) be enrolle in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
(c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above)

2. Applicants must:
(a) be computer literate in standard software applications.
(b) have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter; and
(c) have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Experience:

No working experience requires to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advanced course work, or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.

Languages:

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this position fluency in English and Arabic requires.

Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand), and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
