About UN Job-Programme Associate

The Programme Associate supports the formulation, planning, and management of the UNDP FSM program by managing data and facilitating program implementation as a member of the Programme team working under the direction of the Programme Analyst. The Programme Associate primarily supports the leadership in the execution of services within his or her Programme Team. The Programme Associate supports the Programme Associates in his or her Programme Team as needed and promotes a client-oriented approach in accordance with UNDP rules and regulations.

When necessary for resolving complicated program and finance-related issues and information sharing, the Programme Associate works closely with the operations, program, and project employees in the MCO and UNDP HQs.

Ensures effective support to planning, implementation, monitoring, and timely reporting:

  • Ensures support in collection, analysis and presentation of background information for preparation and formulation of CCA, UNSDCF, MCPD and other strategic documents and policy papers.
  • gathers data, develops it, and presents it in order to create project documentation, work schedules, budgets, and proposals for the portfolio that has been given to them.
  • Contributes to the planning, monitoring, and reporting papers for CO (corporate, regional and CO systems and platforms).
  • contributes to the analysis of data on partners, donors, and the supply of information on projects funded by cost-sharing from the government.
  • Ensures assistance with project planning, monitoring, and evaluation as well as day-to-day project administration, including, if necessary, project communication and reporting.
  • provides research information for concept notes, project proposals, grant requests, policy briefings, etc.
  • gives input and updates on the pipeline information as well as supports the development of new pipeline projects.
  • Enables timely information and report generation in accordance with authorized project papers, company deadlines, and CO specifications.
  • Encourages the incorporation of gender considerations into all programs and projects, from conception to completion, including planning, budgeting, execution, monitoring, and evaluation, as well as reporting in accordance with and making use of corporate gender equality commitments, tools, and strategies.
  • Participates in and contributes to program team meetings, the creation and execution of workplans, and the completion of assigned tasks under each plan.

  • oversees and makes sure that all projects in the portfolio are completed and operating in a timely manner.

UN Job-Programme Associate Requirments

Education:

  • Secondary Education is required;
  • Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, Economics, Social Studies, and other similar subjects with a university degree (Bachelor’s degree) will be given fair consideration.
  • A particular advantage is a specialized certification in Accounting and/or Finance, Project Management, or Programme Management (such as MSP or PRINCE-2).

Experience:

  • It is necessary to have at least 6 years—with secondary education—or 3 years—with a bachelor’s degree—of steadily increasing responsibility in administrative, financial, or program roles at the national or international level.
  • It is necessary to be an expert user of computers and office suites (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Knowledge of ERP platforms (Oracle etc.) and experience in handling web-based management systems is highly desirable.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English is a requirement, the local language is an added advantage.
