About Organization
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. It was founded in 1945 and has 194 Member Nations, two associate members, and one member organization, the European Union. Its Latin motto is ‘fiat Spanish, which translates to ‘let there be bread’. FAO’s staff capacity allows it to support improved governance, and generate, develop and adapt existing tools and guidelines. It also works to provide food security for everyone and ensure people have access to high-quality food in sufficient quantities for a healthy lifestyle.
