About UN Jobs-Beekeeping Specialist/Italy/2023

The incumbent will support NSAG’s activity pertaining to bees and beekeeping under the direct direction of the NSAG Animal Production Officer and in close consultation and collaboration with pertinent colleagues in FAO Headquarters and decentralized offices and partners.

The contributions of beekeeping and bees may be seen in many of FAO’s projects, and the organization is becoming more active in this industry. Beekeeping directly supports the livelihoods of rural communities and indigenous peoples, which results in a more stable framework for food security. Bees and other pollinators play a crucial role in pollination, increasing agricultural yields, contributing to biodiversity, and providing other ecosystem services. Every year on May 20, World Bee Day (WBD) raises awareness of the numerous issues that bees and other pollinators face today as well as the crucial role they play in maintaining human and environmental health. This day has been observed by FAO since 2018.

UN Jobs-Beekeeping Specialist/Italy/2023 Requirments

Education:

  • Advanced university degree in biology, entomology, agriculture, animal science, veterinary science, or a closely related discipline (for consultants) or university degree (for PSA).

Experience:

  •  Three years of relevant experience in apiculture.

 

Languages:

  • Working understanding of English at level C and knowledge of French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, or Russian at level B are prerequisites for consultants. working understanding of English for PSAs.
