About UN Jobs in Sudan-National Consultant- Civil /Water Engineer

The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) works to advance women’s human rights and gender parity, to increase the implementation of gender-sensitive laws and policies, and to abolish all kinds of violence against women. In order to advance toward the attainment of gender equality and women’s empowerment, UN Women is strategically positioned at both the national and provincial levels. UN Women supports creative projects that advance women’s human rights, with an emphasis on their economic security, involvement in governance and politics, freedom from violence, and access to justice.

UN Women is partnering with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AIC) to carry out a project titled Women’s Empowerment for Resilience, Inclusion, Sustainability, and Environment in the Eastern States with the financial support of the EU. The project’s goal is to establish an atmosphere that will support the economic empowerment of women in the Red Sea, Kassala, Khartoum, and other states that are most at risk. The project’s goals are concentrated on making it easier for young people to access a more inclusive market system, particularly those who live in poor circumstances. UN Women concentrates on developing women’s entrepreneurial skills for successful engagement in value chain and gender inequality transformation as part of the project intervention.

The implemented activities include enhancing the water harvesting system through the building of wells, water collection areas, and any other suitable means through which the project’s beneficiaries, women, can benefit from the rains and from the water sources to support increasing their productivity of agricultural products including farming, raising livestock, and forestry. In order to assess the water harvest potentialities in the project areas in the Red Sea, Geadrif, and Kassala states, as well as to develop the technical and functional specifications of the proposed water harvest methods, irrigation pumping, and conveyance solution, UN Women, which is grounded in the vision of achieving gender equality and women empowerment, is seeking to hire a qualified national consultant.

The assignment’s main goal is to offer precise information so that UN Women may utilize it for the project and decide how to finance it in the future. It also aims to design the project adequately so that it can advance to the pre-tender stage.
