About UN Jobs in Syria-Procurement Officer

The protracted crisis in Syria that began in 2011 has had a devastating impact on the country’s population, destroyed much of the infrastructure (including medical facilities), destroyed the economy, killed a great number of people, and made it harder for the country to provide basic social services. The basic blocks of the Syrian health system have been severely damaged by the country’s ten-year civil war, which means WHO needs to invest to restart and repair its essential operations. On the one hand, MoH must support the new roles, such as global health vision, regulation, coordination, reporting on obligations to international organizations, etc.

On the other hand, it must respond to governorates’ requests for assistance in fortifying their frail healthcare infrastructure during times of emergency. The numerous strategic aims and plans (global, regional, and national), as well as the goals of the United Nations Development Aid Framework, must therefore be brought into harmony and alignment by WHO (UNDAF). To improve organizational effectiveness and ensure WHO relevance at the national level, this synergy and alignment will be crucial.
