The job is placed in the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs’ (OCHA) Operations and Advocacy Division (OAD) (OCHA). In order to provide a coordinated response to catastrophes, OCHA, a division of the United Nations Headquarters, brings together humanitarian players. OCHA also makes sure that a framework is in place so that each actor may contribute to the efforts made in terms of the overall reaction. The goal of OCHA is to mobilize and coordinate effective and moral humanitarian action in collaboration with domestic and international actors to reduce suffering during emergencies and disasters, defend the rights of those in need, encourage preparedness and prevention, and facilitate long-term solutions.

- A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration or related field is required.
- The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are French and English. English proficiency is necessary for the role offered. Arabic language proficiency is desirable.
