About UN Jobs in USA-POLITICAL AFFAIRS OFFICER

This position is located in the Office on Genocide Prevention and the Responsibility to Protect in UN Headquarters in New York. The incumbent will report to the Chief of Office. In support of the mandates of the two Special Advisers, the Office collects information, conducts assessments of situations worldwide and alerts the Secretary-General, and other relevant actors, to the risk of atrocity crimes, as well as their incitement.

Education:

  • It is necessary to have a graduate-level education in political science, international relations, or a closely related field (Master’s degree or equivalent). The advanced university degree may be substituted with a first-level university degree and two years of relevant experience.

Experience:

  • It is necessary to have prior study and analysis experience with regard to preventing genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing, or crimes against humanity.

Languages:

The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French. English proficiency in both oral and written forms is necessary for the listed position(s). It is advantageous to be familiar with another official UN language.
