About UN Jobs in Yemen-Environmental and Social Safeguard Officer

All people’s access to improved health and well-being is emphasized in both the Sustainable Development Goals and the WHO’s Thirteenth General Programme of Work. This entails minimizing health disparities as well as diseases and injuries that are avoidable and brought on by environmental, social, and economic determinants of health. The Healthy Populations team of the WHO Country Office in Yemen’s responsibility is to advance a healthier environment, step up prevention measures, and deal with the underlying causes of social and environmental health hazards.

In order to promote improved health, the team assists with the creation of policies, data collection, analysis, reporting, capacity-building initiatives, and the acquisition of necessary supplies. The Emergency Human Capital Project, which is funded by the World Bank, is responsible for providing money for this post. The population of Yemen will receive crucial health, nutrition, water, and sanitation services as a result of this project. It is carried out by UNOPS, UNICEF, and WHO. The project complies with the World Bank’s Environmental and Social Framework, which was approved in 2018, and expedites its implementation of it.
