About UN jobs-National Information Officer
This position is located in the United Nations Information Centre in Yangon (UNIC Yangon), within the Information Centres Service (ICS) of the Strategic Communications Division (SCD) of the Department of Global Communications (DGC).
The UNIC Yangon is the main information hub for the UN system in Myanmar and is a member of the global network of United Nations Information Centres (UNICs). The UNIC’s role is to engage local and regional partners, disseminate UN information materials to a local audience in English and local languages, including Burmese, and generally bring the UN closer to the populations it serves in order to increase public understanding and support for the goals and activities of the organization.

Education:
It is necessary to have a graduate-level education (Master’s, Doctorate, or equivalent) in communications, journalism, public information, or a similar discipline. The advanced university degree may substituted with a first-level degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in the designated subjects of study and two further years of relevant professional experience.

Experience:
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience, including experience in
managing contacts and networking with the media, non-governmental organizations,
government officials, international and national organizations, business groups, civil society,
etc. in Myanmar required.
Experience in developing and implementing communications strategies required.
The ability to work in crisis communications or reputational risk management required.
Experience in speaking to diverse audiences (e.g. general public, Government officials,
and special interest groups) is desirable.
Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English and Burmese required. Knowledge of other official United Nations languages is desirable.
