UN Jobs-Programme Assistant (VAM Data Analyst) Responsibilities

  • Take part in the analysis and processing of CFSVA to ensure that WFP management receives reports on time.
  • Make careful to analyze secondary data, markets, and household data to provide answers for the causes of food and nutrition insecurity.
  • Make careful to study gender and protection, perform cross-analysis, and statistical testing to see how gender affects the safety of household food.
  • Through system cross-referencing and factor analysis of food safety in relation to explanatory factors, take part in the technical coordination of CFSVA data analyses, contribute to the report-writing process, and ensure regular follow-up.
  • Participate in the creation of the seven reports that will result from the CFSAV’s production of newsletters and periodic reports on the analysis of food insecurity vulnerability and trends over time through the reanalysis of data from other surveys (CFSVA, 2012, 2017, ENSAN, etc.) to direct the planning and programming of WFP’s food assistance interventions and those of its partners.
  • Attend technical workshops to verify the accuracy of the data and analysis, as well as to translate graphs and figures into English for reports.
  • Create and ensure the numerous CFSVA databases, as well as the household database that will be utilized for the MVAM, as well as the development of the Syntax and the mVAM parsing table.

An analyst is required to guarantee the analysis of CFSVA Cameroon data, which will enable the unit to perform better in proportion to the volume of reports that must be prepared and involve in-depth analysis and technical talks (Statistics) with the government and other partners. The highest WFP standards for database maintenance, data collecting, analysis, and presentation, as well as outcomes on food security and nutrition, shall also be upheld by s/he.

UN Jobs-Programme Assistant (VAM Data Analyst) Requirements

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree (Bac + 4) in statistics, economics, or similar is needed for the position.
  • 1 to 6 years of professional experience in analysis statistics, in econometrics
  • Good knowledge of statistical modeling
  • Good quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and writing
  • Attention to detail, efficiency, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Be able to work in a team, independently, and under pressure on short notice
  • Excellent computer skills, MS Office included word processing, Outlook, spreadsheets, and other software packages. Excellent software proficiency statistics (SPSS, Stata, and/or) required.
  • Knowledge of visualization software like Tableau and experience in a mapping (ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.) an asset.

Languages:

Fluency in the language of the duty station, if distinct from the UN language, as well as in both oral and written communication.
