About UN Jobs-Programme Specialist/Laos/2023

The Adolescents and Youth Programme Specialist leads the coordination and management of youth empowerment, policy, and ASRH thematic interventions of the UNFPA-supported program and related initiatives under the overall supervision of the Representative. The Specialist will be in charge of the Country Office’s Adolescents & Youth unit and oversee the creation, execution, and evaluation of projects in addition to offering strategic policy and program assistance.

The incumbent will answer to the Country Representative directly

The leader of the adolescents and youth unit, the adolescents and youth program specialist analyzes trends in adolescent and young concerns as well as the social and policy context of the country. According to the principles of results-based management, the Specialist is in charge of overseeing all facets of the UNFPA youth and adolescent program and related projects. She also ensures compliance with established national and international planning frameworks, such as the UNFPA Strategic Plan, Country UN Coordination Framework, National Development Plan, and related sectoral strategies. The work of Programme Analysts, Programme Associates, and other temporary employees may be supervised by the Programme Specialist (consultants, advisors, and experts).

In order to address emerging issues, he or she will forge and maintain cooperative relationships with counterparts in government, multilateral and bilateral donor agencies, and civil society. To do this, they must successfully persuade counterparts from a variety of backgrounds to help UNFPA fulfill its mandate.

UN Jobs-Programme Specialist/Laos/2023 Requirments

Education:

  • Master’s degree or higher in political science, social policy, public health, social mobilization, business administration, international relations, or a closely connected discipline.

Experience:

  • a minimum of five years’ worth of experience managing programs related to population and development, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and building capacity.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English (written and oral).
