About UN jobs-Regional Office For Asia And The Pacific
In order to ensure that everyone has access to suitable housing, the UN General Assembly has given the agency for human settlements known as UN-Habitat the responsibility of promoting socially and environmentally viable towns and communities. UN-Habitat assists the urban poor by making cities into places where everyone may live in dignity and that are safer, healthier, greener, and have better possibilities. In order to design, manage, plan, and finance sustainable urban development, it collaborates with organizations at all levels, including those in the public and private sectors, as well as all branches of government.
The Tehran Office of UN-Habitat was established in 2009 to enhance cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and UN-Habitat, to contribute to capacity building in the areas of sustainable urban development through institutional implementation, policy development, and skill improvement, and to promote UN-Habitat-mandated activities in Iran, particularly in the field of earthquake resistance construction and urban resilience in addition to implementing

Education:
The incumbent will have an advanced degree in urban or regional planning, environmental
management, engineering, social sciences, or related fields, with an emphasis on sustainable urban
development and human settlements.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of work experience in human settlements issues and/or disaster management in
international cooperation and/or developing countries in particular.
Languages:
The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French. English proficiency in both oral and written form is necessary for the advertised position. It is advantageous to be familiar with another official UN language.
