To advance the continental public health agenda, the WHO Liaison Office to the AU and ECA’s mandate calls for developing positive alliances with the AU organs and the UNECA. Influencing AU and ECA discussions and actions on health, technical collaboration on health-related issues, and keeping an eye on WHO-relevant developments at the continental level are all included in this.

The incumbent will work under the guidance of the Regional Emergency Director of WHO AFRO and the direct supervision of the Head of the WHO Liaison Office to the AU and ECA. They will collaborate with Africa CDC to collect, manage, and analyze data from joint EPR activities, support data management initiatives, and develop tools to harmonize data collection processes. They will also respond to information requests, provide technical expertise, identify gaps in health information management, and participate in other activities related to data and information sharing for EPR.

UN Jobs-Statistician/Ethiopia/2023 Requirments

Education:

  • a Master’s degree from a university in information or data administration, computer sciences, statistics, applied mathematics, or public health, as well as training in the creation and/or management of databases from an acknowledged or recognized institution.

Experience:

  • a minimum of seven years of combined relevant experience at the national and international levels in data and/or information management, including knowledge of humanitarian aid or disaster operations.

Languages:

  • Expert knowledge of English or French with a working knowledge of the other.
