Tasks and Responsibilities
- Support national lead agronomist/horticulturist for the project implementation
- Design and implement consultations with the stakeholders to establish the scope and methodology for jackfruit value chain development outlined under the overall scope of work
- Arrange the establishment of public-private collaboration platforms to support strategic market-oriented value chain planning for jackfruit
- Lead the value chain analysis for jackfruit and organize the contributions of the other consultants that are assisting with this job.
- Assess local and worldwide demand and market circumstances for jackfruit product value chains, and coordinate the contributions of other experts who play a lead or supporting role in these assignments.
- Determine the public investments needed to support jackfruit value chains.
- Create strategies and action plans for the agricultural commercialization of jackfruit, as well as investigate the export possibilities of jackfruit and value-added goods.
- Prepare and monitor a strategy for capacity building through mentorship and facilitated learning by doing related to project implementation activities.
- Support the creation of public-private partnership models for enterprises, as well as the mapping and strategic documenting of the jackfruit value chain.
- Help with training, seminars, and group discussions.
- Contribute to the creation of project reports, both intermediate and final.
Minimum Requirements for these UNjobs in Asia
- University advanced degree in Horticulture/Food Technology/Agronomy with a specialty in jackfruit processing and value addition.
- Minimum of ten years of professional experience with a value chain approach in the agricultural and natural resource sectors, including fostering vertical and horizontal relationships in the industry to improve service and product quality, particularly for smallholder farmers, and to promote industry competitiveness.
