Context

Bangladesh’s ambitious journey towards realizing the Smart Bangladesh Vision 2041, culminating in achieving High-Income Country (HIC) status, will be significantly accelerated through youth empowerment nationwide. Futurenation, a visionary movement to create economic opportunities for all and redefine the economical trajectory of Bangladesh, strives to empower the youth, especially women, by providing them with ample employment prospects and fostering an entrepreneurial ecosystem, while being committed to ensure that no one is left behind in the journey towards economic prosperity. The mission is to enable relevant government institutions and connect with industry actors to accelerate economic opportunities through upskilling & enablement for the country’s millions of women and youth. Futurenation aims to cultivate a conducive investment climate and foster a robust entrepreneurship ecosystem, transforming the country’s population dividend into the key driving force of the economy. The core objective of Futurenation is to equip individuals with the essential skillsets, providing them with access to meaningful employment opportunities and empowering them to embark on entrepreneurial endeavors.

Teaching, Training and Mentorship

Task description

Online volunteers play a key role in delivering online teaching on English to help Bangladeshi youth to learn English and to practice speaking English. Each Online Volunteer member will be assigned to support teaching a group of 10 learners (2-3 hours each week). TASKS Specifically, Online volunteers are required to: 1) Facilitate and help the youth complete Business and Social English Online self-study course provided by host entity. The volunteers will support Bangladeshi youth in completing the Business and Social English online self-study course provided by the host entity. This involves guiding students through the course materials, answering questions, providing explanations, and assisting with comprehension and application of course concepts. 2) Conducting pronunciations and English speaking practice The volunteers will support in pronunciation and English-speaking practice sessions with the youth. This includes helping students improve their pronunciation, intonation, and speaking fluency through interactive activities, discussions, role-plays, and exercises aimed at developing communication skills in various social and business contexts. 3) Providing corrective feedback During pronunciation and speaking practice sessions, the volunteers will identify and correct students’ mistakes in grammar, vocabulary usage, pronunciation, and language structure. Providing constructive feedback helps students improve their language proficiency and accuracy. DURATION & TEACHING MATERIALS Each session lasts for an hour or an hour and half and lesson materials will be provided. Online Volunteers are also welcomed to create their own lesson materials if they have experiences in doing so. This may include creating worksheets, quizzes, activities, or multimedia resources tailored to the needs and interests of the students. LEARNERS PROGRESS DOCUMENTATION 1. Monitoring Progress: The volunteers may need to monitor the progress of each student or group of students throughout the course and speaking practice sessions. This involves tracking attendance, participation, and performance to assess learning outcomes and identify areas for improvement. 2. Encouraging Engagement: Encouraging active participation and engagement from all students is essential for a successful learning experience. 3. Communicating with Host Entity: The volunteers may need to communicate regularly with the host entity to provide updates on the progress of the students and share feedback or concerns. Successful Online Volunteers applicants will need to participate in an Online Induction for further details on the assignment and the expected contribution/deliverables from this role. SPECIAL NOTICE: This is an unpaid assignment. However, a certificate would be provided at the end of your assignment. The task will be fully virtual.

Requirements

Required experience

Required Education Level • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent educational background. Area(s) of Specialization • Knowledge of English linguistics, including phonetics, grammar, syntax, and pragmatics is an asset. • Certification or demonstrated proficiency in English language Teaching (ELT) will be advantageous. Required skills and experience • Teaching certificate and experience are desired, although not required. • Proficiency in using online learning platforms, educational tools, and digital resources is essential.
