Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of the most comprehensive private, not‐for‐profit health care systems in the developing world with community health programs in large geographical areas in Central and South Asia, as well as in East Africa.
The Aga Khan Health Services, Afghanistan (AKHS, A) was established in 2003 as part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKHS, A provides health care services mainly on behalf of the government including the Ministry of Public Health’s of Afghanistan’s Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS). AKHS, A is unique both in scale and scope, delivering critical health services along the continuum of care, from Community Health Workers (CHWs) to ISO certified hospital facilities.
AKHS, A is currently implementing healthcare services in Bamyan, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Kabul and Takhar provinces. The agency’s scope of work includes the provision of primary and secondary healthcare, preventive and curative medical care, Nursing and Midwifery education, Human Resources Development and Hospital Management. As BPHS and EPHS implementer, AKHS, A provides technical support as well as capacity building of health personnel, immunization services, nutrition trainings and the training of Community Health Nurses and Community Health Midwives.
AKHS, A draws on internal and other donor fundings to continue supplementary and complementary support to the national health system. Moreover, AKHS, A has introduced innovations, including, expansions of e-Health services, e-learning initiatives, and cross border arrangements. To promote healthy environment, AKHS, A is also implementing net zero and greenhouse gas emission initiatives.
Job Description:
Administering the vaccine to the target group according to the determined plan and relevant indicators.
Preparing a list of absentees and tracking absentees at the community level.
Using vaccination recording devices and records and updating them in a timely manner (monthly care chart and stock book)
Responsible for storing and maintaining vaccines and other vaccination supplies according to guidelines.
Maintaining the cold chain of vaccines
Preparing a list of requests for vaccines and other vaccination equipment and sending it to the relevant authority.
Preparing and training an operational plan for National Vaccination Days and organizing National Vaccination Days training for volunteers and active participation in National Vaccination Days.
Collecting and consolidating reports on the vaccination team’s activities and sending them to the relevant department on a monthly basis.
Compliance with and implementation of introduced standards.
Management duties:
Arranging monthly, quarterly and annual work plans in accordance with the general plan of the relevant department in order to achieve the set goal.
Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual work reports and submitting them to the relevant department manager.
Arrange a work plan for the fixed vaccination center according to the microplan and arrange an outreach work plan (if necessary):
The vaccination campaigns are organized according to the prepared time schedule.
Conducting health education sessions on the mass immunization program, diarrhea, respiratory diseases, and nutrition for clients.
Performing other duties related to the job assigned by the administration or the head of the health facility.
Check monthly figures according to the report, register and tally sheet.
Drawing a map, arranging a microplan, and updating the monitoring chart monthly.
Maintaining mutual respect with the health center staff and establishing coordination with the various branches of the health center, obeying the orders of the health center’s commander and supervisor and accepting additional responsibilities with respect to the basic health service package and refraining from any activity, performance, publication and dissemination of political, religious, or racial issues, respecting all human principles and beliefs and adhering to the principles, regulations, rules, and national policy of the Ministry of Public Health, the relevant office, and observing working hours according to the seasons of the year, the holy month of Ramadan, and national and religious holidays.
Job Requirements:
You must have completed at least 12th grade or received a basic three-month vaccination.
Preference will be given to candidates who are local residents and those in health professional fields.
Having one year of experience in the relevant field
Ability to read and write in Pashto, Dari and other local languages .
Having skills in explaining and understanding.
Having moral qualities (patience, patience, compassion, being cautious and observing all Islamic standards).
Having good communication skills.
