Mission and objectives
The Council extended the UNMISS mandate until 15 March 2024. It also emphasized that the Mission should continue advancing its three-year strategic vision defined in resolution 2567 (2021) to prevent a return to civil war, build durable peace and support inclusive, accountable governance as well as free, fair and peaceful elections in accordance with the Revitalized Peace Agreement.
Under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations, UNMISS is therefore authorized to use all necessary means to implement its mandate which includes:
(a) Protection of civilians
(b) Creating conditions conducive to the delivery of humanitarian assistance
(c) Supporting the Implementation of the Revitalised Agreement and the Peace Process
(d) Monitoring, investigating, and reporting on violations of humanitarian and human rights law
The overall ceiling for uniformed personnel is maintained at 17,000 troops and 2,101 police, including 88 corrections officers.

Context
Task description
• Will be required to assist with and provide support to the operation, maintenance and testing of equipment for the UNMISS Video & Audio Conference Facilities at the mission’s HQ in Juba South Sudan and to provide such support and assistance whenever required to all other State Capitals throughout the mission area.
• Will provide support for all video/audio conferencing activities originating or transiting the HQ, which will include the setup of all conferences and the operation of the equipment during such conferences.
• Will also assist with the distribution, return of the IT equipment, and assist in the operation and maintenance of the Wide Area Network infrastructure that supports videoconferencing.
• Testing equipment and setting-up the necessary Wide Area Network (WAN) links before conferences. Operating the relevant room equipment during the conferences. The incumbent must over-see the entire conference to ensure that all equipment is functioning properly.
• Ensuring that the equipment necessary for each video and audio conference is tested and working properly. This will require working knowledge and experience on:
• Installation, co-ordination, setup and configuration of different Cisco video conference equipment, monitoring, scheduling, communication with clients on day-to-day Video conference meeting and booking meetings using EBMS.
o Cisco Switches and Routers.
o LAN/ WAN protocols and technologies.
o Have an overall understanding of satellite communication technologies.
• Support users with all meeting platforms like: MS-Teams, Live event, Zoom, Webex, Webvc and others.
• Assist with the Installation, Maintenance & Operation of Audio Conference Equipment, Cisco Conference Phone, Danish language Interpretation sound System, BGAN INMARSAT Satellite Terminal, Thuraya Satellite Phone.
• Assist with setting up of Public Addressing system (PA) equipment, for different kinds of events and meetings.
• Assist with the distribution and return of CITS equipment with Inventory Management functions, such as technical evaluation (TE), inspection, return-to-stock, write-off, shipments and stock checks.
• Assist with the maintenance and operation of the WAN in terms of monitoring, tracking, and logging events to provide input for the network engineers.
• Perform other duties as required.
