Job Description

The Online Communications Unit (OCU), the Manila-based branch of the IOM Department if Media and Communications, focuses on several key areas of work. These include bringing expertise and agility to manage the digital environment effectively, ensuring IOM’s online presence is a strategic priority, maintaining consistency in online brand representation, guiding and empowering colleagues through web management training, and being dedicated to swift and effective responses to web-based demands, efficiently meeting various web-related needs.

Under the direct supervision and the overall guidance of the Head of the Online Communications Unit (OCU), the successful candidate will support and coordinate the Website Content Management activities.

Responsibilities

  1. Contribute to the drafting of web content management plans, including the definition of editorial standards to ensure consistency, accessibility, and brand alignment.
  2. Support the work of the Web Content Management Team by providing technical guidance and contributing to the coordination of activities to ensure high performance and continuous improvement.
  3. Contribute to work planning, task allocation, and performance follow-up to support the timely and high-quality delivery of all website-related outputs.
  4. Share technical knowledge and provide day-to-day support to strengthen the capacity of team members and encourage a collaborative work environment.
  5. Contribute to all aspects of IOM website content management, including support to strategic planning, content development, maintenance, and regular updates.
  6. Ensure the accuracy, relevance, and engagement of website content, maintaining high standards across textual, visual, and multimedia elements.
  7. Support the implementation of regular content audits to ensure high-quality, up-to-date, and consistent information across digital platforms.
  8. Provide feedback to reports of key website performance metrics, leveraging tools such as Google Analytics to generate actionable insights.
  9. Support the implementation of website audits to enhance user experience, ensure SEO and technical excellence, and maintain compliance with ICT security standards.
  10. Collaborate with designers and developers to support the design and continuous improvement of websites, ensuring alignment with UX best practices and accessibility standards.
  11. Liaise with internal departments and field missions to align web content and activities with institutional priorities, including digital fundraising.
  12. Support the regular updating of IOM’s Media Library, ensuring organization, accessibility, and governance of all media library content.
  13. Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Master’s degree in above fields with two years of professional experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in digital communications, Journalism, Multimedia Communications, Computer Science or related fields from an accredited academic institution with at least four years of professional experience in web content management; or
  • Knowledge of digital marketing is desirable.
  • Industry certifications will be considered an advantage.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience supporting web content management activities, including supervising personnel and contributing to their capacity-building.
  • Experience working with photography and visual content, including selecting, editing, and curating images for digital platforms in line with brand and accessibility standards.
  • Advanced expertise in Drupal CMS is required, including site structure, content workflows, and module management.
  • Experience working independently and proactively, with minimal supervision and strong accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve complex problems, particularly in the areas of content strategy, and digital governance.
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience in web content management, preferably within a large organization or international context.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with experience engaging business users and technical teams effectively.

SKILLS

  • Strong ability to translate business requirements into web content wireframes using content strategy principles.
  • Adept at managing and publishing high-quality photography, ensuring proper rights, resolution, composition, and alignment with institutional brand identity.
  • Solid understanding of web accessibility (WCAG standards).
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop, for web content production.
  • Familiarity with digital asset management systems.

Notes

  1. Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, verification of residency, visa, and authorizations by the concerned Government, where applicable. Vaccination against COVID-19 will be required for IOM personnel who are hired or otherwise engaged by IOM. As part of the mandatory medical entry on duty clearance, candidates will be requested to provide evidence of full vaccination.
