Description

The WASH Officer provides technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the WASH programming process. The Officer prepares, manages and implements a variety of technical and administrative tasks, related to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the WASH output results of the country programme which is focused on provision of lifesaving critical WASH services to the people affected by ongoing war and cholera outbreak.

Requirements:

Education: A university degree in Civil/Sanitary/Environmental Engineering, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science or another relevant technical field is required.

Experience:  A minimum of two (2) years of professional work experience in WASH-related programmes for developing countries at sub-national or national level is required.

Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Arabic is required.

Desirables:

  • Advance university degree in relevant discipline will be considered an additional advantage.
  • Additional relevant post-graduate courses that complement/supplement the main degree are considered additional strong asset.
  • Practical experience in both technical area (i.e., design and implementation of WASH infrastructure – hardware component) and social aspects of the WASH Programme (e.g., social mobilization, community development, sanitation and hygiene promotion, SBC – software component) is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience in humanitarian response is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Appointments may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid). Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
