The IRC Yemen began its programs in October 2012. Since establishing its presence in the South of Yemen, in the Red Sea Coastal city of Aden, the organization has grown from just an implementing small project to handling large scale emergency and relief operations. Following the war which broke out in Yemen in March of 2015 and the humanitarian disaster, which was crafted by the same, IRC launched one an emergency response program in the southern governorates of Aden, Lahj, Abyan, Shabwah and Al Dhale, and expanded later in Sana’a and Hodeidah in the North. Currently IRC Yemen is operating in eight governorates in the south and north of Yemen through direct programming and through local partnerships, in Health, WASH, Nutrition, Economic Recovery Development, Education, Child Protection, Gender and Women Protection and Empowerment.
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) have been working in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) for more than forty years. Today, the IRC has more than 2,200 staff working across the region, including in Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Syria, and Yemen to support those affected by some of the world’s most complex and protracted humanitarian crises.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Under the supervision of the IRC Yemen WPE Senior Response Officer and Response Officer based in AL-Dhalea / Abyan, the WPE Assistant will be responsible for the implementation of adolescent-specific activities and ensuring work in the targeted communities, WPE Community Centre, WPE Safe Space, and other IRC surrounding facilities, and conducting community mobilization and GBV risk mitigation activities, safety assessments, capacity building trainings, meetings, and community-based activities in close collaboration with the IRC team and local partners.
JOB SUMMARY:
This position will cover the response services in WGCC, WGSS, and the field and will cover any activities related to adolescent girls, caregivers. Will make relations with IRCs, RH, CP, MHT, nutrition team, and the safe space of the partner to improve the adolescent girls’ programming, GBV response and mitigation activities.
WORKING RELATIONS:
This position will work directly with the Response Officer and Senior Response Officer. Indirectly, will work with MHT, CP, and partner management in that area.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Mobilize adolescent girls in target locations to participate in psychosocial activities provided by the IRC, including emotional support groups, skills-building, non-formal education, and recreational activities.
· Facilitate parenting skills curriculum with caregivers.
· Collaborate with caseworkers and other WPE team members to ensure GBV responses consider the specific needs and vulnerabilities of adolescent girls and use youth-friendly communication techniques.
· Support logistic implementation of activities, including raising purchase requests, handling petty cash according to IRC’s policies, and working to regular spending plans.
· Use agreed-upon monitoring and evaluation tools to supervise adolescent girls’ participation in activities and collect their feedback.
· Support and collaborate with local partner staff, including providing training on how to work with adolescent girls.
· Write and submit regular weekly and batch end reports for each curriculum.
· Manage cases for adolescent girls.
· Write and submit weekly reports of the WGSS or WGCC.
· Conduct information and awareness sessions with community members to disseminate vital information.
· Identify and assess new communities for engagement in WPE activities.
· Provide close mentoring and capacity building support to community representatives.
· Participate in facilitating empowerment activities at the center and in the field.
· Facilitate training for WPE curriculum volunteers.
· Manage volunteers and facilitators at the WGCC, in the field, and at the WGSS.
· Supervise volunteers and submit their weekly and monthly reports.
· Coordinate and meet with community leaders and authorities in monthly and quarterly meetings.
· Conduct regular safety assessments in close collaboration with community outreach volunteers to identify key risks faced by women and girls within their community.
· Facilitate referral of identified needs to humanitarian organizations and other service providers, ensuring follow-up and feedback to the community.
· Promote and actively participate in initiatives and efforts to build team engagement, inclusion, and cohesion within the IRC team.
· Foster ongoing learning, honest dialogue, and reflection to strengthen safeguarding and promote IRC values and adherence to IRC policies.
· Educate and raise awareness among community members and clients about existing feedback mechanisms and response processes.
Minimum Qualifications:
REQUIREMENTS: (Qualifications, Skills and Abilities):
A. Education:
– Bachelor Degree.
– Courses in Psychological Support and Psychology First Aid.
B. Experience:
– Deep knowledge and experience in the working environment in that area.
– Minimum one year of experience in implementing Girl Shine and caregivers’ curriculums.
– Minimum two years of experience in implementing case management activities.
– Deep knowledge of case management for adolescent girls.
– Deep knowledge and experience in writing regular weekly and batch end reports for each curriculum.
– Experience with local partner staff, including providing training on how to work with adolescent girls
– Deep knowledge in logistic implementation of the activities, including raising purchase requests, handling petty cash according to IRC’s policies, working to regular spending plans.
– Experience in managing volunteers and facilitators at the WGCC, in the field, and at the WGSS.
– Good understanding of Gender Based Violence, women’s protection and empowerment in the context of Yemen.
C. Skills and Abilities:
– Excellent knowledge of the working environment.

– Knowledge of Microsoft word and excel.
