How applications are chosen
The academic institution will evaluate and rate the applications in accordance with its own standards, keeping in mind the qualifying requirements and selection criteria of the ADB. During the screening process, the academic institution may contact the candidates to request additional information. The academic institution will then provide to ADB its ranked list of applicants together with a description of the grading/scoring system that was employed to arrive at the rankings.
Based on ADB’s selection criteria, ADB will recommend grantees to the Executive Director of Japan for formal approval after examining the submissions from the academic institutions.
Following the Japan Executive Director’s approval, ADB will propose the chosen applicants to academic institutions.
The educational institution will notify all applicants of the selection process’s results and start setting up the recipients’ scholarships.
The academic institutions will set up the signing of the scholarship recipient’s acceptance agreement, in which the recipients promise to return home after completing their studies.
