Eligibility:
- be an Afghani woman applying.
- must be an undergraduate student starting in the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science.
- shows promise for success in computer science or engineering professions and does well academically.
- On the proposal of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, the Senate Committee on Awards chooses the recipient.
Requirements for English:
- All applicants must show that they are proficient in English in order to be admitted to UVic.
- This can be accomplished through coursework, standardized assessments (such the TOEFL and IELTS), or courses provided by UVic’s English Language Centre (ELC).
- Additional proof is usually not required for applicants who have studied full-time in English for at least four years in Canada or another recognized English-speaking nation.
As an alternative, applicants can fulfill the criterion by sending in their test results:
- CAEL: 70 is the minimum score (no section below 60).
- A minimum score of 180 is required for Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency; no skill is below 170.
- IELTS Academic: 6.5 is the minimum score (no component below 6.0).
- MET (4-skill test): 64 PTE is the minimum score: 65 is the minimum score (no competence below 60).
- The TOEFL iBT requires a minimum score of 90, with no component falling below 20.
As an alternative, completing UVic’s University Admission Preparation (UAP) program successfully and earning an 80% or better score can also satisfy the criterion. Certain schools provide conditional admission, which enables candidates to fulfill the language requirement after being accepted.
