International applicants may now apply for the Fellowships for the Study of Professional Ethics (FASPE) Medical Awards for 2024. Fourteen to sixteen medical students and residents get fellowships from FASPE Medical each year. Fellows spend two weeks in Berlin and Poland seeing important locations associated with Nazi history and taking part in daily lectures led by knowledgeable faculty members. This innovative curriculum offers a wealth of unstructured chances for creative collaboration by fusing the influence of historical sites with academic rigor.
A wide range of backgrounds and interests are brought to the table by candidates to FASPE, which enriches conversations both within and outside of the seminar room. Alongside Seminary and Journalism Fellows, Medical Fellows travel, sharing meals, activities, and multidisciplinary lectures to provide a more comprehensive knowledge of professional tasks. Since FASPE Fellowships are completely financed, participation won’t be hampered by financial concerns.
FASPE Medical Fellows look on topics like:
- Medical professionals’ role in the design and implementation of Nazi policies
- Medical care allocation at a period of limited resources
- The role and limits of current bioethics, including physician-assisted suicide and technological advances
- Difficult concerns in research ethics, such as when research is conducted outside of the United States and the impact of technical improvements.
- The Medical Profession’s Prejudiced Legacy
- Juggling numerous allegiances to individual patients, the greater patient population, the public welfare, research goals, medical institutions, and others
- End-of-life care (structured as an interdisciplinary discussion with Seminary Fellows)
- Strategies for dealing with ethical challenges inside medical institutes
