Summary
To support students seeking computer science degrees in excelling in technology and becoming leaders in the sector, the Generation Google Scholarship was created specifically for women in the field. For the academic year 2024–2025, a scholarship of 7,000 EUR (or its local equivalent) will be given to the chosen students. The Generation Google Scholarship for women in computer science will be given out in accordance with each applicant’s strong record of academic achievement, leadership, and dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Students who complete the program are eligible as long as they meet all the requirements. Students that identify as women are highly encouraged to apply. Previous winners of the following awards: The Generation Google Scholarship is available for women in the gaming industry, for Irish women studying computer science, for supply chain and fulfillment, and for women in gaming. Reapplication is not permitted for the Google Lime Scholarship, Google Student Veterans of America Scholarship, Women Techmakers Scholarship for Computer Science, Women Techmakers Scholarship for Gaming, Google Europe Students with Disabilities Scholarship, or Venkat Panchapakesan Scholarships India.
Who is eligible to apply?
To be qualified to apply, candidates need to:
be enrolled full-time in a Bachelor’s program at a recognized institution or university for the 2023–2024 academic year.
For the 2024–2025 academic year, intend to enroll in or be accepted as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program at an accredited university in Europe, the Middle East, or Africa.
be enrolled in classes in computer science, computer engineering, or other closely related technical subjects.
Show off a solid academic background.
Show leadership qualities and a strong commitment to enhancing the representation of marginalized communities in the fields of technology and computer science.
Procedure for applications
You’ll need to fill out an online application that needs the following information:
General background data (such as contact details and information about the universities you now attend and plan to attend)
CV/Resume
transcripts of grades from your present school
Answers to the questions for the short answer essay
Essay-related questions
The purpose of the two short answer essay questions below is to evaluate your ability to solve problems and your dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The answers to the two questions below should not exceed 500 words each.
Tell me about a situation in which you encountered a challenging issue for which there was no obvious solution. Give a thorough explanation of the processes you followed to arrive at the solution. Which tools and remedies did you take into account? What insights did this event give you? Remember that you may be experiencing this issue at job, school, extracurricular activities, or your home.
Give an example of a barrier that keeps some people from having equal access to the field of technology based on your own experience. What do you think the underlying reason is? What steps have you already done and what more are you going to take to rectify this injustice? Kindly devote a minimum of fifty percent of your reply on the steps you have already taken. Remember that impact can occur on a variety of scales and in a variety of ways.
