- Senior visiting scholars must be under 50 years old, have an associate professorial position or higher, or have a master’s degree or higher.
- The scholarship is not available to applicants who have already been awarded one by the Beijing or Chinese governments.

- highest diploma (photocopy notarized).
- The most advanced academic transcripts (notarized photocopy).
- At least two associate professors or professionals with equivalent titles in similar fields should provide two letters of recommendation.
- A research or study plan (minimum 400 words for visiting students, minimum 500 words for postgraduate students).
- Publications list. A formal, certified translation of the document is required if any of them are written in a language other than English or Chinese.
