Opportunity Details

A three-month remote fellowship program called New Futures focuses on creative and multidisciplinary solutions to the climate challenge. Global activists and academics come together under this fellowship to carry out research, suggest policies, and produce interesting digital material.

The two main themes of their 2024 fellowship are Clean Energy + Environmental Justice and Climate + River Delta Communities. Fellows will work in groups as researchers, campaigners, communicators, and policy analysts from May 28, 2024 to September 6, 2024.

Theme:

  • The Climate and River Delta Communities fellowship group will conduct research on specific river delta issues with the goal of advocating for policies that involve local communities in preserving rivers’ long-term values, as delta areas are threatened by climate change, environmental pollution, resource extraction, and other challenges.
  • The Clean Energy + Environmental Justice fellowship group will conduct an overview of environmental justice issues in Western U.S. energy communities, such as cumulative health impacts, air quality issues, energy poverty, workforce development, and participation by marginalized populations and tribal governments.

Benefits:

  • The fellowship provides a full-time educational opportunity with a stipend of $2500.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Open to undergraduate and graduate students who are currently enrolled in a degree program or will begin a graduate degree program by January 2025.
  • All fellowship activities will be conducted entirely online, and fellows must have reliable internet access to participate.
  • Fellows must be able to work and write fluently in English.
  • Fellows can come from any field of study, including natural and physical sciences, social sciences, arts, humanities, communications, journalism, and public relations.
  • What we seek is an ongoing commitment to climate justice issues.
