Research Grant for German Studies, DAAD scholarship 2025:

Bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in the cultural, political, historical, economic, and social facets of modern and contemporary German affairs are eligible for the DAAD German Studies Research Grant 2025. Applying for this scholarship is possible here. Your application must be submitted before May 1, 2025. This fellowship is worth between USD 2,000 and USD 3,000 and is offered by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). All nationals are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Eligibility:

  • International students as well as US and Canadian citizens and permanent residents are eligible to apply for the DAAD German Studies Research Grant.
  • Candidates must be enrolled full-time at the university where they will be nominated.
  • Undergraduate applicants for the grant must be at least juniors, or in their third year.
  • be pursuing a minor in German Studies or
  • be proposed by the chair of their department or program.
  • have finished two years of college German and at least three German Studies courses in politics, literature, history, or other subjects.

In order to be eligible for the DAAD German Studies Research Grant, master’s students must

  • be humanities and social science students pursuing a degree or engaged in a German Studies project.
    be proposed by the chair of their department or program.
  • have finished two years of college German and at least three German Studies courses in politics, literature, history, or other subjects.
  • In order to be eligible for the DAAD German Studies Research Grant, PhD candidates must
  • be humanities and social science students working on dissertation projects about contemporary German issues.
  • be proposed by their primary advisor.
  • have finished at least three German Studies courses and two years of college-level German language instruction.

Documents Needed:

  • filled-out DAAD application.
  • Résumé, or curriculum vitae.
  • A synopsis of the research endeavor.
  • incorporating a plan for research.
  • Statement of the budget.
  • The itinerary.
  • German language studies are listed.
  • taken classes in German Studies.
  • Two recommendation letters.
  • language assessment form from DAAD.
  • A faculty member from the German Department or an official from a Goethe Institute must sign the application.
  • official records of every graduate and undergraduate coursework.
