The university has created a multicultural environment with nearly 20,000 students from 108 countries and prominent faculty members from 34 various nations. Eastern Mediterranean University is the only state university in Northern Cyprus. The university is a full member of the European University Association and the International Association of Universities. Eastern Mediterranean University is ranked 501-600 in the 2023 Times Higher Education World University Rankings and 782 in the 2023 US News & World Report. Eastern Mediterranean University offers 68 bachelor’s degrees in English. The university also provides scholarships for international students.
