Scholarships from the Japanese Government (MEXT) 2025
The 2025 Japanese Government Scholarships are available to students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Japanese language and culture. Applying for this scholarship is possible here. Your application must be submitted by August 20, 2025. The Government of Japan is offering this scholarship, which has a total value of 117,000 yen a month plus tuition and round-trip airfare. All nationals, with the exception of those from Japan, are eligible for this award.

Under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) of Japan provides financial aid to foreign students who want to study for a year at specific Japanese universities as Japanese Studies Students in order to enhance their knowledge of Japanese language, Japanese affairs, and Japanese culture.

Eligibility Criteria Scholarships from the Japanese Government:
This scholarship requires the following qualification:
- In theory, applicants must be enrolled as undergraduates in foreign (non-Japanese) universities when they enter and exit Japan.
- Candidates must be proficient in Japanese in order to be admitted to a Japanese university in Japan.
- In order to continue studying Japanese language and culture in the undergraduate program of the university they registered in when they arrived in Japan, applicants must make sure they return home by the end of the last month of the scholarship period.
- An application form, academic transcripts from the current university, and documentation attesting to at least a year of Japanese language study are required of candidates.
- A Placement Preference Application Form, a certificate of university enrollment, and a university recommendation should also be submitted by applicants.
