Two undergraduate scholarships that are in line with Northumbria’s Higher Education Without Barriers Campaign will be established and supported by the RHA (Road Haulage Association) Benevolent Fund.

Eligibility Criteria Scholarships from the RHA Benevolent Fund:
This scholarship requires the following qualification:
- The candidate must be a UK or home applicant, which includes students who are residents of the Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey, the Channel Islands, and Ireland.
- Apply and enroll in the full-time, September 2025, BA (Hons) Business and Supply Chain Management program at the Newcastle Upon Tyne campus, making sure you fulfill all admission requirements.
- Be a student who pays for themselves, meaning they don’t receive any sponsorship.
- Apply for one or more government student finance package components, such as a maintenance loan or a tuition fee loan.
- Either Student Finance Northern Ireland (SFNI), Student Finance Wales (SFW), or Student Finance England (SFE) requires registration.
- In order for the Student Award Agency for Scotland (SAAS) to forward your information to Student Finance England, Scottish students must register with SAAS and ask to be means-tested for maintenance assistance.
- Agree to provide Northumbria University your consent through your Government Finance Provider.
Students will be taken into consideration if they exhibit at least one of the following traits:
- The neighborhood where you live has a low rate of higher education progression. Please check your neighborhood’s progress rate using the Postcode Checker and enter your primary home address rather than your term-time address.
- You come from a BAME (Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic) family.
- On your UCAS form, you have disclosed a long-term sickness, learning disability, or physical and/or mental health condition.
Award:
- By the end of November 2025, £416 (25%) will be paid, followed by £416 (25%) by the end of February 2026, and £835 (50%) by the end of May 2026.

- Candidates must submit a written application online. “What are your career goals in business, and how would a scholarship help you achieve them?” should be written in no more than 3000 characters (500 words). What impact will this scholarship have on your life? Applications will be evaluated based on how well they address a marking criterion.
