Description of Opportunity

SECAI offered scholarships to assist worthy candidates wishing to study AI or related fields at Leipzig University or TU Dresden. Since artificial intelligence (AI) is regarded as a multidisciplinary field, expertise in the natural sciences, computer science, engineering, mathematics, social science, law, and application domains like medicine are required. The scholarships cover living expenses in Germany so that students can focus on their education, begin their research careers, and build their professional networks.

Academic excellence is the main requirement for the fellowship, but it also aims to promote diversity and globalization in artificial intelligence courses. They strongly advise women pursuing STEM careers to apply. Specific individual situations are taken into account, such as when students are fleeing violence or face regular persecution or disadvantages in their native nations.

Benefits of SECAI Scholarships:

By participating in the SECAI Scholarships, participants will receive monthly grant consists of a monthly allowance of EUR 934. Applicants should declare any extra income, and the scholarship may be reduced by the amount of gross income exceeding EUR 520. Foreign students may also receive a monthly family allowance.

Students can apply for this scholarship if they meet all of the following criteria:

Current or prospective master students of TU Dresden or Leipzig University. Students can apply for the scholarship in parallel to applying for a Master’s program with two independent applications.The content of student’s studies should be related to the research areas of SECAI in the following programs:
Sc. Computational Modelling and Simulation in “AI Engineering”, “Logical Modelling”, and “Computational Life Science” tracks at TUD.
Sc. Data Science at UL
Sc. Nanoelectronics Systems at TUD
Sc. Bioinformatics (Bioinformatik at UL)
Sc. Medical Informatics (Medizininformatik at UL)

Additionally, students of other programs can also apply with specialized towards an AI-related topic. Relevant study programs include the followings:
Sc. or Diploma programs in Computer ScienceMaster of Laws with a focus on legal aspects of AIA. studies with a focus on human and societal dimensions of AI at TUD and ULSc. studies in psychology with a focus on socio-technical systems and human-machine interactionApplicants should provide an above-average academic track record with GPA of 1.7 or better after conversion to the German grading system. Exceptions are possible in case of adverse personal circumstances.Students in German Diploma program are considered as Master level after having completed the first two years of their study (Grundstudium).
