The Supporting Access to Higher Education for Afghans (HEA) program aims to equip talented and motivated adult learners in Afghanistan with opportunities to increase existing professional skills and build connections in high-need fields. The program offers online coursework and certificate programs in business/entrepreneurship, information technology, education, law, and allied health sciences at no cost to participants.

Who is eligible?

Individuals who meet the following requirements are eligible for the HEA:

  • Currently reside in Afghanistan
  • Completed some university/college credits
  • Proficiency in writing, reading, and speaking English
  • Professionals at any career stage
What do I study?

Applicants can view course offerings in the application and indicate their interest in completing online coursework and certificates in one or two areas of study: business/entrepreneurship, information technology, education, law, and allied health sciences. Each area of study includes a group of courses that lead to a full certificate. If all courses are successfully completed, participants receive a certificate. Each course takes approximately two to three weeks to complete. Depending on the course of study, certificates take five to ten months to complete.

How do I apply?

Access the application. A complete application includes basic contact information, educational and professional background details, selection of a preferred course of study, self-assessment of English language skills, a resume/CV, and a response to one essay question. The application is accessible on a mobile device.

No transcript, TOEFL score, or letter of recommendation is required to apply.

Timeline

The application deadline is April 1, 2024 at 11:59 PM AFT. Applicants will be notified of their status in early May 2024. Online courses begin in June/July 2024.
