Opportunity Details

The United Nations PGA Fellowship, which supports the upcoming generation of diplomats, is currently accepting nominations. The goal of the President of the General Assembly (PGA) Fellowship Program is to bring a select group of young civil servants and diplomats to New York while also promoting youth involvement in multilateralism.

In order to ensure gender parity and geographic representation, this program accepts fellows from landlocked developing nations, especially Small Island Developing States (SIDS), Low-Income Developing Countries (LLDCs), and Least Developed Countries (LDCs).

The Office of the President of the General Assembly (OPGA) will fully integrate the Fellows, and they will be rotated among the Office’s teams: communications and media, peace and security, human rights and humanitarian affairs, sustainable development, UN reform and general assembly affairs.

Through their work in the OPGA, the Fellows will gain a comprehensive understanding of the operations of the United Nations system, including the Secretariat, specialized agencies, financing and programs of the UN, and other entities and bodies.

Benefits of United Nations PGA Fellowships 2023:

The Fellowship will give Fellows access to training seminars on the UN, as well as its subsidiary organizations and ministries. Human rights, peace and conflict resolution, climate change, and sustainable development will all be included in the course. The fellows will also receive training in public diplomacy, drafting, and bargaining.

The Fellows will have frequent meetings with the OPGA Senior Management Team to enhance their educational opportunities and enhance their comprehension of the General Assembly’s operations.

A research excursion outside of UN headquarters, to a place like Geneva (76th session) or Washington, D.C. (77th session), may be available to fellows.

  • Round-trip economy flight from the home country to New York City.
  • Laptop for the duration of the Fellowship
