Job Description:

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB: 

This position requires a candidate with a strong work ethic and a commitment to safety and professionalism. The B6 Driver will be responsible to ensure safe and responsible driving of the office vehicles, make sure to properly maintain the vehicles cleaned and steady all the time, report any incident immediately, maintain the logbook accurately, reporting the vehicle limit for refuelling at the earliest time and running of official errands and assisting with other office services.

Major Activities / Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular safety checks on vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition before and after each trip.
  • Adhere to traffic laws of the country and safety regulations to avoid accidents or incidents.
  • Drive office vehicles safely and transport office staff, official visitors, and guests to official destinations.
  • Ensure that all necessary paperwork and documentation are in order to MSH SOPs and rules before transporting passengers.
  • Takes careful note of all available information concerning street conditions, effective routes and locations before any travel.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, regularly cleans inside and outside the office vehicle and wash the vehicles when it is required and advised.
  • Checks oil, water, brakes and clutch fluids on a daily basis; tire pressures, battery water, and overall vehicle condition on regular basis.
  • The B6 driver is responsible for accuracy of project vehicle documents and its care, keeps vehicle logbook updated on a daily basis and registers each monthly check and maintenance/repair works required.
  • Calculates the petrol, oil, and lubricant (POL) use on a monthly basis.
  • Reports the need for maintenance and undertakes minor repairs.
  • Report any emergency or incidents immediately and must be immediately reporting any involvement of the project/office vehicle in any, even minor accidents, or any damage or theft of equipment from the vehicle.
  • Must of knowledge of using a UHF radio communication.
  • Other duties as required.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • High school education is required, and bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and B6 qualified certificate is preferred.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 4 or more years of experience working in a similar position for an NGO, or an international organization is preferred.
  • No history of major accidents within the past 1 year.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Proven work experience as a Driver role with NGOs.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Good knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations, and city routes
  • Excellent driving skills and the ability to navigate unknown routes fluently.
  • Flexibility in working hours – the ability to work during weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues.
  • Language skills: fluent in Dari & Pashto, at least a working knowledge of written and spoken English.
  • Have a solid understanding of the project region or area of work.
  • Strong understanding of the local area, places, and culture
  • Possess understanding vehicle operating systems.
  • Ability to receive a clear police background check.
