Purpose of the emergency Specialist

The Emergency Specialist establishes and implements country office emergency preparedness and response including aspects of Disaster Risk Reduction. Responsible for the development, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of emergency interventions to ensure the survival and well-being of children and mothers, and the affected communities in an emergency situation as well as provide guidance in the area of Disaster Risk Reduction. Major duties and responsibilities:
  1. Emergency Preparedness
  2. Emergency Response
  3. Emergency Project

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Advanced University degree in one of the following fields: social sciences, public administration, international law, public health, nutrition, international relations, business administration, or other related disciplines. Preferably a combination of management, administration, and relevant technical fields.
  • Five years of progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in program/project development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and administration.
  • Specialized training/experience in emergency response management is highly desirable.
  • Experience in ROSA countries or Bangladesh is an asset
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergencies is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
