The International Organization for Migration (IOM) was founded in 1951 and is the premier intergovernmental organization on the issue of migration. It collaborates closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners.
With 172 member nations, 8 observer states, and offices in over 100 countries, the IOM is committed to encouraging humanitarian and orderly migration for the benefit of everyone. It accomplishes this by offering services and advice to governments and migrants.
IOM works to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems, and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people.
The IOM Constitution acknowledges the relationship between migration and economic, social, and cultural development, as well as the right to free movement.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) works in four primary areas of migration management:
- Development and migration
- Making migration easier
- Migration control
- Forcible migration.
Among the IOM’s work in these areas are the promotion of international migration law, policy debate and guidance, the protection of migrants’ rights, migration health, and the gender dimension of migration.
Being a part of the IOM team necessitates the greatest levels of efficiency, expertise, and honesty. As an international organization with a global mandate, the IOM strives to keep its employees geographically balanced. As a result, its recruitment efforts focus on but are not limited to, nationals of its Member States. IOM is an equal-opportunity employer looking for dedicated professionals with a wide range of migration capabilities.
