About UN Jobs in Indonesia-Provincial Clerk Monitoring and Evaluation

Initiated by UNDP-Indonesia and the MoH, the Sistem Monitoring Imunisasi dan Logistik secara Elektronik (SMILE) initiative is a creative approach to improving SCM. With the help of UNDP, a pilot project was started in two districts, South Tangerang and Bogor, in the provinces of West Java and Banten, respectively. The project’s primary component is human resources development, which is backed by a clear supervision strategy and an extensive training program.

The system assists state governments in overcoming infrastructural, monitoring and management information system, and human resource restrictions, and offers an integrated approach to overcome pervasive discrepancies in vaccination coverage. It helps track stock of vaccinations as well as the storage temperature of vaccines with SIM-enabled temperature loggers linked to the cold chain equipment.

The Government of Indonesia has now requested that UNDP broaden the implementation of SMILE to cover 700 cold chain locations in 6 more provinces. The ultimate goal is to bring out SMILE in phases between 2020 and 2024 to every cold chain in Indonesia (about 10,000 health facilities).

The M&E Support team effectively supports projects while guaranteeing high standards of work, accurate monitoring and evaluation data, and timely and correctly recorded/documented service delivery, all under the general supervision of the data management officer.
