About UN Jobs in Pakistan-Elections and Inclusion Officer

The Elections and Inclusion Officer will be under the direction of the Chief Technical Advisor for the UNDP’s Strengthening Electoral and Legislative Processes (SELP) Project.

The following duties will fall within the purview of the Elections and Social Inclusion Officer:

Support for Research, Policy, and Resource Mobilization

  • Under the direction of the Chief Technical Advisor, develop and implement the program’s research concept and methodology.
  • Handle the program’s research contracts and offer the project management technical guidance for the study’s final approval and publishing.
  • As required by the Chief Technical Advisor, draft background thematic concept notes and other pertinent materials on project issues such as electoral inclusion of vulnerable groups and electoral hate speech, violence, and misinformation/disinformation
  • Organize and communicate with current, potential, and other stakeholders (identified by the Chief Technical Advisor)
  • Do additional relevant duties such as writing sector/thematic reviews, idea papers and proposals, policy briefs, etc.
  • Determine, evaluate, and collaborate with partners who can help with research and policy.
  • Record lessons acquired through encounters and best practices, and share knowledge by actively participating in programming networks.
  • Make project designs, proposals, reports, and other papers that support strategic suggestions, and contribute to them.
  • Organize baseline research, case studies, and project case studies for policy discussions.

Contract Management:

  • Create and oversee specific project interventions aimed at ensuring that disadvantaged groups—such as women, young people, PwDs, transgender people, and members of underrepresented religious and ethnic groups—are included in the electoral process.
  • Make that project interventions are finished on time and to UNDP standards for quality.
  • To incorporate lessons learned in project implementation, approve project reports, and offer regular feedback to implementing partners working on hate speech and the participation of vulnerable groups in electoral and political processes.
  • To arrange monitoring visits throughout project implementation, and work in concert with the monitoring and evaluation officer.
  • Support the creation of a framework for electoral risk management.

locating, creating, and overseeing new partnerships

  • To guarantee the accomplishment of the goals outlined under the social inclusion component, identify and build relationships.
  • initiate pacts/MoUs with academic institutions, research groups, and civil society organizations
  • Communicate with partners in the scientific and social sectors on a frequent basis to guarantee efficient partnership management.

Social inclusion and gender parity

  • assumes accountability for integrating gender ideas and ensuring that men and women participate equally in all aspects of work
  • Be sure to educate partners and stakeholders on social inclusion that prioritizes gender
  • Utilizes socially inclusive strategies to guarantee that all social groups are included in project activities that center on including vulnerable groups in the electoral process.
  • Increase partner and stakeholder capacity for programming that includes social and electoral inclusion of vulnerable populations.
  • Provide funding for developing and implementing programs to boost young people’s participation in political and electoral processes

Requirements of UN Jobs in Pakistan-Elections and Inclusion Officer

Education:

  • a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related discipline, such as political science, sociology, anthropology, journalism, development studies, or another

Experience:

  • a Master’s degree and at least two years of experience managing contracts, supporting programs, and research
  • a bachelor’s degree and at least four years of experience in research, program support, and contract management.
  • demonstrates a dedication to the mission, vision, and values of UNDP.

Languages:

  • excellent spoken and written English and Urdu skills.
  • Proficiency with these languages in report writing, editing, coordination, and communication.
