The Ministry of Peace Building is charged with developing and putting into action institutions and policies that support social cohesiveness, peace, dialogue, nonviolence, and prevention of psychosocial problems and trauma healing in South Sudanese communities.

Responsibilities:
Give the South Sudanese Ministry of Peace Building technical recommendations to the government:
- to effectively implement the National Peacebuilding Policy, the National Strategic Action Plan against Hate Speech, and the South Sudan Strategic Framework for Peacebuilding;
- supplying technical assistance to UNDP and other international partners in the effective and efficient implementation of the Ministry’s 2023 annual work plan;
- Provide technical support and advice on risk reduction, peacebuilding, and conflict prevention.

Give South Sudan’s inclusion on the agenda of the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) technical support:
- To support the setting up of, and ensuring the effective functioning of the Joint Steering Committee and the Technical Working Group on Peacebuilding Coordination;
- To strengthen the overall technical capacity of the Ministry of Peacebuilding to effectively deliver on is mandate and functions.
Create training that is unique to the context for local peacebuilders, including women, youth, chiefs, and elders:
- oversee the creation, operationalization, and execution of project activities related to risk reduction and conflict avoidance, including potential initiatives to promote communication, inclusiveness, and trust-building, including in various recovery clusters, as appropriate;
- To ensure that programming is sensitive to conflicts and tailored to the context and implementation environment, offer guidance and helpful support;
- Contribute to the preparation of concept notes, project proposals and other project documents.

- Participate in and contribute to relevant meetings as requested; debrief senior management on critical issues that may undermine peace and stability.

Education:
- a master’s degree in a related discipline, such as conflict resolution, international relations, peace studies, social sciences, public administration, or politics.
- In lieu of a master’s degree, candidates with a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and an extra two years of relevant experience will be given due attention.
Experience:
- Minimum of five years (Master’s degree) or seven years (Bachelor’s degree) of total relevant field experience, with a sizable portion coming from crisis- and conflict-ridden nations.
Languages:
- It is crucial to be fluent in both written and spoken English. Arabic language proficiency is an advantage.
