The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization fighting hunger worldwide. It was founded in 1961 and is headquartered in Rome, Italy. WFP works in more than 80 countries, providing food assistance to more than 80 million people each year.

WFP’s mission is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger by 2030, and it provides food assistance in emergency situations, as well as supports long-term development programs to improve food security and nutrition. The organization works closely with governments, NGOs, and other partners to deliver food assistance to those in need, and it also provides technical support and expertise to help countries build their own food security systems.

WFP is funded entirely by voluntary contributions from governments, the private sector, and individuals. In addition to its work providing food assistance, WFP also engages in research, policy development, and advocacy on issues related to hunger and food security.

About UN Jobs in Sudan-Programme Assistant

The largest humanitarian organization in the world battling hunger is the United Nations World Food Programme. WFP’s goal is to contribute to the world’s effort to eradicate hunger during our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works in every country to make sure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the most vulnerable and impoverished people, especially women and children, have access to the wholesome food they require. WFP received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020 for its struggle to end hunger in all its forms, particularly its efforts during the coronavirus pandemic.

Each month, the WFP supplies food aid to more than 5 million people in Syria. Families in need of emergency aid due to violence or displacement, as well as those who want to improve their nutrition and food security, are included in this. WFP helps families and communities in Syria with sustainable livelihood projects, women with nourishing diets, and children across the country with wholesome school lunches and snacks.

The Program Assistant (NGO Partnerships and GFA) will be a part of the Hama FO’s Program section. The position holder will work closely with other WFP units engaged in carrying out WFP activities (activity focal points and other colleagues within Programme, Logistics/Retail, Finance, IT, and others), with partnership and emergency focal points in WFP’s Country Office, as well as with external partners like cooperating partners.
