The primary goal of the FAO country offices, which are led by an FAO Representative, is to support governments in creating policies, programmes, and projects that will lead to food security, reduce hunger and malnutrition, develop the agricultural, fisheries, and forestry sectors, and make sustainable use of their natural resources and environment.
The Cambodia Programme for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth in the Fisheries Sector was launched by the European Union (EU) (CATFISH). The main goal of the CAPFISH Programme is to assist the Royal Government of Cambodia in realizing its long-term goals of social and economic advancement, food security, and poverty eradication, as outlined in the National Strategic Development Plan and launched with the Deep Fisheries Reforms.
Within the CAPFISH-Capture Fisheries Program, this Complementary Support project (FAO-CAPFISH-Capture Fisheries) aids in the conservation and management of fisheries. Improved capacity to strengthen fisheries management at the community, district/provincial, and national levels is the specific outcome that the project will attempt to attain within its timeframe and resources.
