The goal of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) internship program is to draw highly skilled and driven students from diverse backgrounds to the Organization to support its business responsibilities and work on projects linked to the Secretary-Strategic General’s orientations. Its main goal is to give chosen candidates the chance to advance their technical and analytical abilities in a worldwide environment. Applications for the internship program are always welcome. If a student is enrolled for the duration of their internship in a fully approved degree program (PhD, Master’s, or Bachelor’s), they may apply online.

Application Deadline:

OECD continuously recruit interns, and applications are accepted all year long. You can apply anytime.

Internship Start Date: 

Your availability dates and the schedules of the OECD hiring teams will be used to determine the start dates for the internships, so be sure to include these in your application.

Internship Duration:

The internship will last for a minimum of one month and a maximum of six months, or a total of twelve months, on a full-time basis (40 hours per week). To make the most of their internship experience and obtain valuable insights into work at the OECD, the OECD encourages prospective interns to pursue an internship of four months or longer.

Benefits:

  • Every selected intern will receive a monthly financial aid of 700 Euros.
  • The interns will receive visa processing help from the OECD employees.
  • An opportunity to work at the OECD for six months.
  • Depending on the intern’s success, the internship may be extended for another 12 months.

Eligibility Criteria:

The majority of internships are given to citizens of OECD member countries, but some programs and initiatives at OECD related bodies and agencies are also open to citizens of non-OECD member countries (e.g. International Tax Forum, ITF, NEA)

Students can apply for internships if they:

  • Are enrolled full-time in a degree program in a field or discipline associated with the activity of the OECD for the period of the internship
  • Are available for at least a one-month internship
  • Possess a solid command of one of the two OECD official languages (French or English), and have some knowledge of, or be eager to study, the other. It would be advantageous to have knowledge of other languages spoken at the OECD;
  • Possess strong IT and quantitative skills
  • Have great communication and drafting abilities
  • Are able to collaborate effectively in a multicultural and global team setting.

Paris, France, hosts the majority of internships.

Intern’s Responsibility:

  • Participating in the development of studies and documents
  • Conducting research and reviewing existing materials
  • Data collection, organization, and analysis
  • Contributing to the creation of documents, working papers, and publications as a result of the aforementioned activities, such as drafting notes and preparing technical annexes;
  • Attending meetings and seminars;
  • Liaison and network building with national administration officials, researchers, other international organizations, and member country Delegations;
  • Contributing to event planning, communication, planning, and evaluation.

  • Proof that you are a full-time student at an academic institution.
  • Medical Insurance
  • A scanned copy of the visa or work authorization
  • Account information of a French bank. (after you start working at the OCED, it will be necessary)

How to apply for OECD Internship program?

  • Applicants must apply for an internship using an online application.
  • Shortlisted applicants must remain available to OECD directorates for further consideration after the screening process.
  • Candidates who have been shortlisted will be contacted for an interview or a written test. (Interview conducted over the phone)
  • A confirmation email will be sent to only the selected interns.
  • If the candidate does not receive an email within three months of submitting their application, they have not been shortlisted.
  • The applicant will have to wait until the next deadline to attempt again.

Selection Procedure:

The selection procedure is divided into four key steps:

  1. Your cover letter and online application, addressed to the internship office;
  2. Pre-screening: The Internship Office screens all applications, placing qualified applicants on a shortlist that is made accessible to OECD Directorates;
  3. Interview and/or Written Test: Hiring teams may ask candidates to take a written test or conduct a phone interview;
  4. Offer letter: If you are chosen after a phone interview and/or written test, OECD Human Resources will send you an email with your internship offer letter.

Directorates will only get in touch with individuals who have been shortlisted for an interview. You can presume that your application has not been retained this time around and submit it again if Directorate hiring teams do not contact you within three months of application submission.
