The Selection and Application Criteria and Process

The following selection procedure is applicable to scholarships starting in September 2023.

There will be two stages to the student selection process:

Phase 1: FAO will pre-screen applicants and transmit applications to Hungary’s Ministry of Agriculture, which will forward them to the relevant University of the applicants’ choice. Just COMPLETE dossiers must be submitted by students. Dossiers that are incomplete will not be looked at. The processing of nameless files is disabled.

Phase 2: As part of the admissions process, selected students may be required to complete a written or oral English examination. Each of the successful candidates will be informed once another round of selection is conducted by the participating university. Without any engagement from FAO, the Universities alone will choose the students. The Ministry will also inform the chosen pupils.

The selection process will take place based on the following factors:

  • Citizenship and residency of one of the eligible countries
  • Excellent school achievements
  • English language proficiency (for courses taught in English)
  • Motivation
  • Good health
  • Age (candidates under 30 are preferred)
